During my time here at B & B and my time wet shaving, i have tried many decent products from all over the world, but nothing from my tiny country (New Zealand) as no one has developed anything worthy of mention, untill now
The new Kiwi brand Triumph & Disaster has released some decent "real man products" and i was lucky enough to score a jar of this high quality cream earlier this week, i made a few test lathers before i shaved last night with my Progress set on 4, heres my impressions for anyone interested in a product from the other side of the ditch
The first thing that struck me with this cream was obviously the classy packaging, the black mirror finish on the low profile jar, with the bold font looks very classy/eye catching.
The scent, after opening the jar i was greeted with what i would describe at first a very old school medicinal smell, but after that it smells very fruity/citrus like, and even more fresh and aromatic when being mixed and applied.
from the manufactures description -
Its definitely one of the nicer creams ive smelt, compared to a more powdery smell like TOBS can smell like sometimes, ive found myself sneaking a sniff when its sitting on the windowsill in the shave cave
Texture - Cream texture is very very soft with a medium shine, when applying to the brush i just took a normal almond size on my finger as using my brush directly on top of it may have resulted in to much product.
Lather - One thing i noticed about this cream is it doesnt like alot of water, the best lather i got was from squeezing out my brush completely after soaking, mixing and adding a few drops at a time, i used my Semouge 830, but it also worked very well with my badgers too.
Performance/Ingredients - I only used this cream to shave last night and i was very happy with the way it performed, very protective with alot of slickness/glide, my skin felt great afterwards, very soft which may have been due to the Lanolin
Overall - This is a very great smelling, high performing product that punches outside its price bracket, it performs on par with some of the big boys which is great news, i will be looking forward to my next shave with this cream
