Treaded pivot, good idea?

I've been wondering why I've never seen a nut and screw used as a pivot point for a straight razor. The nut could have a small lock washer and would be countersunk into the scales. The advantages I see for this is that the setup would allow easy removal of the blade for cleaning/polishing, and would also allow for tightening loose scale-fit when needed. Is this something I've overlooked? Is it a tradition thing to go with pins only? Just askin'.

Pins are lighter and traditional, though threaded pivots are becoming more common on the custom and high-end razors. The Feather AC also uses a threaded pivot.

I've never actually taken one of my threaded pivot razors apart for cleaning though. The main advantage I can see is that it's easy to adjust the tension to your liking. The main disadvantage is that all of them loosen over time, so many of mine are loctited.

I stated this in another thread, but I'll say it here too.
Part of learning to shave with a straight razor, is the maintenance, and the restoration of the razors.
For me, each part of straight razor shaving is a unique skill to learn.
Pinning took me a while to figure out, but I can do it consistently well(as well as anyone else I dare say) now that I have put the time in.
I also hone my own razors, to levels acceptable to Leighton(my cheap DA's were nearly smooth enough for him) and even went as far as to build my own strops.

Also, pinning razors is really no big deal once you've done it a few times; it's only a few minutes of time and a few pennies for the pin.

About 2 years ago everyone was using "screws" most of us have moved away from them....

Many of the "Custom" makers are still using them because they are using the 3/16 and the 1/8 sizes....
I can't think of any of the restorers that still use them, I could be wrong though....

The biggest problems are that they loosen up rather fast unless you locktite them... and the end user has the added expense of have to buy the tightening tool whatever it might be...They also stick out to much unless you counter sink them or file them down, both "fixes" weaken the whole system...

All pins loosen up over time....
