Today's Haul

Greetings, Ladies and Gents!

About a month ago, I stopped into a local antique shop on a whim. I mentioned to the proprietor that I was looking for old shaving gear. There was a Strong Set brush, and a Rubberset that I picked up for restoration, and an old Gillette blade box that I grabbed for travel purposes on that trip. While I was in the shop, an older gentleman overheard my conversation with the owner, and he said he had a bunch of old shaving gear he had, and that he'd bring it in for me.

Today, I got a call from the owner saying that he had a bag of stuff for me and that I should stop on in.

This is what was waiting for me:

full

An old strop, A "Sharp" straight razor, a Fat Handle Tech, F1 Super Speed, Ever Ready 65, a shaving mug, a bowl of Houbigant Fougere Royale, a puck of vintage Williams from New Jersey, a pack of NOS Spoilers, a few Super Blues, and a pair of Wilkinsons from England. And a broken old Boker straight.

I took the entire lot as it sat. There was no negotiation. Turns out that the gentleman who had the collection previously isn't long for this world. He and his wife didn't have any children, and these were all collected from their family members over the years. He just wanted to see the collection go to someone who would appreciate it. Since he entrusted his collection to me, I don't think I'll be getting rid of any of it. I know most of these things are pretty common scores in the world, but I'm just so happy that I found some stuff in the wild and made a deal that was beneficial to all parties involved in more ways than just money.

Thanks for looking, and happy shaves!

Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?
That is an awesome story!
Enjoy using what you can and simply enjoy the remainder.
Congrats!

Thanks, Marty! Everything is going to be used in some fashion or another at some point, but I might not use it all up. The previous owner knows that I look to collect things that I can use. I might even use the broken straight as a letter opener!
