Todays Antique store find

Today I stopped in at an antique shop and came across a pretty nice super speed for $6.00. It is or was a red tipped model but the finish paint came off. The razor will make a nice shaver.

I gave it a good cleaning and sanitizing.

Interesting... do I detect a pink tint on the razor head in the bottom 2 pictures? Or is that just a product of the photo overexposure? I'm curious if any of that paint that wore off the tip might have migrated up the razor, perhaps due to being immersed in some solvent?

Red Tips with the paint removed seem to be quite common. They look also very good, I think. A little bit more classical than those with the paint still on.

All I did was boil it for about 15 minutes in a solution of 4 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Then I scubbed it with a toothbrush and some bathroom cleaner. The paint began flaking off.

Hey, I like the looks of the red still in the grooves, pretty cool looking...
I might just have to do that to one of my already trashed Red Tips.
