TOBS lavender and one raw face

It seems like whenever I lather up with TOBS lavender my razor pulls and tugs for passes two and three but slides effortlessly for the first. When I lather up with proraso, or musgo real my razor works well from start to finish. Would this be more of an indication that my lather is drying out to quickly (which I don't think is the case because it looks good from start to finish), that I have sensitive skin, or I'm having an allergic reaction of some kind? I really love this cream, so I'm hopeful I can still end up using it.

This is something I've noticed with al my razor, blade and brush combinations

I don't find it very lubricating and the lather is slightly dry. I've experimented with more/less cream and more/less water, etc., but it's one of those creams where I can't get the lather right. I'm not an "amateur" any more; I've been wetshaving for a couple of years but this cream doesn't do it for me - maybe it's the water in my house.

I find the lather sort of dry when I drag my razor across my face and it leaves a sort of dry film behind. It's a shame because the scent is terrific.

I'm sure there are plenty of guys who love TOBS creams and the lavender in particular but I'm just not one of them.

I'm still in search of a great lavender cream - I'm thinking of Castle Forbes, but I have so many creams I can't reasonably splurge on another one.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a few more shots before putting it up for sale. Castle Forbes huh? I'll order some and let you know how it performs for me

The TOBS lavender works well for me but IMHO the Castle Forbes is a little better. Both lather well and the TOBS lav was one of the first shaving creams in a tub that I tried so I am still partial to it.

I have not tried the TOBS Lavender, but I have recently had a go with the TOBS Rose and I have to say that it creates a fantastic lather. I can't say I am a fan of the smell, if they did one with the same smell and menthol properties of Proraso then they would have a winner.

I used TOBS Lavender and I thought I didn't use enough cream. I had a raw shave. Next time, I will not be stingy at all with the cream. Rather have too much than too little.

TOB Lavender was the first cream I purchased. I shaved in the shower then, so I know I used more water then, too. I haven't tried it since I started shaving at the sink, but I suspect I would have to use a little more water with it than I might with other creams, adding a little in between each pass.

TOBS worked fine for me. It could be the water. Castle Forbes has a consistency between Trumpers and AoS. Very thick gobby stuff, and boy does it perform and smell very well (rhyme ftw). You should have no problem generating some top notch lather w/ CF. Its also EO scented so you'll get some real natural smelling lavender. Great stuff. Enjoy.

The lavender may be irritating your skin indeed. I had similar results with a KMF lavender cream.

As for TOBS creams, I will agree that their creams do seem to create a somewhat dry lather, at least the way I make it:blushing:. I don't know if it is my technique, but on the rare occasion I will notice the lather drying really quickly once it is on my face. I use TOBS almond and while it is a really great cream, the dryness is something I have noticed with even really thick lather.
