Tobacco storage in your cellars

So how do you fellas store your tobacco when you put it in the cellar? I have never had enough tobacco or varieties of tobacco to justify actually storing it in the cellar. But now (thanks to the brown leaf :biggrin1:) I do and want to start storing the tobacco that isn't in the current rotation in the basement. I was thinking of purchasing a cooler to put all my various tins, pouches, etc. in, but wasn't sure if there is something better. Any suggestions?

Mason jars, since they come in so many different shapes and sizes you can take care of all the amounts you have. If you have stuff that is already sealed in its tin then you are golden.

When I mentioned a cooler, and I assume when champion mentioned it as well, I was referring to a standard cooler. My dad is a pretty big cigar smoker and always kept his extra bulk of cigars in a standard red cooler..just seemed to keep the air out, temp regulated, and all together fresher that way so I assumed it could do the same for pipe tobacco and also assumed it was probably pretty standard among other pipe smokers, but also thought maybe some of you guys do something different that might work better.

I keep all the tobacco i'm not currently smoking either in their original tins or bulk is stored in mason jars. All of it is keept in a cabinet in the basement, guarded by a three headed dog.

Mason jars as mentioned.. I keep the jars in boxes and milk crates.

A lot of guys keep the jars in coolers. I understand the reasoning but I don't think it matters.

Thank you fellas for the suggestions. I did not realize Big Tex essentially posted the same question a little earlier than I did. I apologize for the semi-repeated post. Thanks again!

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Pint Mason jars for my Squadron Leader (oh no, I am down to three) and half pint for the rest. I have some 6 month old SG Navy Flake- I think I will crack it open tonight.

No worries- this is a discussion forum, and who knows where this thread may lead?
