What's new

Those of you who have a lot of brushes, which two?

I have been browsing and see many nice pics of people's collections of brushes.

I saw one individual who had a cabinet with over 100 nice brushes on it

If you HAD to narrow it down to your favorite badger and boar, what would they be?

i guess it depends on what your budget is and whether you face lather or bowl lather.

but i agree with Marco, the SOC Boar is the best Boar regardless of price. at around $30 shipped, it should be in everyone's den.

for a Swiss Army, all around Badger, my vote goes to the Savile Row 3824

I'd drop the boar and have a Thater two-band and a Thater 3 band.
But the best boar I ever used was the Semogue 2012 LE.

boar:
Semogue 1800 or 1305

badger:
very soft - Thater 4125/1 or 4125/2 2-band
very versatile with light scrub: Shavemac D01 3-band fan

Easy for me as I only have 7 brushes. I'm going with Semogue 1800 boar (but the B&B Essential is nipping at its heels) and Rudy Vey custom badger.

NO boar would make my list (sorry to all of those boaring people out there) :001_smile

Badger. Imposable to narrow it down to just 1 so taking it to face and bowl

Bowl: Kent BK8

Face: Duke 2

No boars for me anymore, but if I had to choose one I would have a SOC.

Badgers? Hard to choose 2 but I would have to say:

Thater 4125 2-Band Finest
Shavemac D-01 3-Band Silvertip
or maybe a Duke 3, or maybe a M&F 2-Band. I dunno

i have 8, the SOC boars, and the 1305 are great i also have horse hairs, and badgers, if i had to narrow it down it would be tough, but the SOC would be it

I know these types of threads get old, but I enjoy them occasionally, especially since I don't have a lot of brushes. Threads like this help me decide which brush I will buy next.

So what are the thoughts on the B&B Essential brush? Since I'm in the 2013 shave purchase sabbatical this is about my only option for this year.

I have posted on the B&B Essential Brush thread (probably too often for some!) and on other threads. I love boar brushes and the B&BEB is a very nice brush. As many have noted, very soft tips, densely packed, great backbone, good performance right out of the package and gets better with each use, nice ergonomic handle if you like the blue, supports/celebrates Badger & Blade. Mine has a starter position in my rotation now.

I have to second this since I bought said SOC (from VT_Hokie). Thick with nice backbone but not too scratchy at all. Fantastic brush.

Badger: Still looking.

Thanks, I'll be watching for the next one to be offered.
