Third DE Razor: EJ DE89BA11 Barely Chrome

Howdy,
I just pulled the trigger on another DE razor for my den. Sequence so far is Merkur 180 Long Handle followed by a Weber DLC with I think the regular handle. After reading and looking about I purchased an Edwin Jagger DE89BA11 Safety Razor and 10 Personna Blades - Barley Chrome from razorbladesandmore. Looks like a great razor and based upon how many vendors were sold out a fairly popular model as well. That or EJ underestimated demand.
I have to admit 1/2 the reason I purchased it was it just looks so darn shiny. That and EJ gets lots of love around here.

If anyone has experimented with different blades in this razor, I'd love to hear your results.

Congratulations on that fine purchase. All the EJ models are mild shavers and benefit from the sharper blades. I always found Feathers, Bolzanos, and Gillette Yellows to work best for me.

Everybody needs a EJ DE89 ... I agree that its so shiny ..... and hefty ..... and shiny - oh, I said that before!

I, also, agree with Optometrist that you need sharper blades for the DE89.

Great razor. You should be able to use any blade you come across in it without any problems (I do)

I've always had good luck with Sharks, Derby's and Astras (my favorite) in my EJ. But, like Optometrist said, anything on the sharper end of the spectrum should work really well. Enjoy the new razor!

Most blades should work well, but i liked the Gillette Yellows, Bolzanos, Polisilver, and Super Iridiums.
