He's done comedy, and often, very deadpan comedy.
Watch him in Life's Too Short with Ricky Gervais when he does the bit about him (Liam Neeson) wanting to get into improv and stand up comedy. That ought to convince anyone he can play the deadpan comedic straightman.
As mentioned, he's done the Seth McFarlane comedy "A Million Ways to Die in the West" and several episodes of the Family Guy series.
He's had parts in "Ted 2", "Nut Job", and "The Lego Movie", all comedies.

I'll watch it. I won't get my hopes up though. Remakes are generally terrible compared to the original.

Yeah, me too. Though as @luvmysuper already noted Neeson did do a good job of playing straight in an episode of Life's Too Short.

The whole point of those movies is that they’re played straight and deadpan. Leslie was as good at that as anyone. Neeson can do it too. I will pay money to go see it in the theater. Heck, my fever dream is a shot by shot remake of the original, which contained some of the funniest stuff ever committed to film.

Have not seen too many remakes that were better then first time great movie. Hollyweird needs to put on thinking cap and come up with new original ideas.

Hollywood has zero originality anymore. All they can do is recycle old movies.
