The X-Files

So I'm getting back into The X-Files. That show was me and my sister's favorite as a kid, and I've recently queued all of the seasons on my Netflix.

I watched the one with the killer cockroaches tonight, and it made me freak out and go OCD cleaning my kitchen and bathroom. If I see another insect in my life, it'll be too soon!

Another favorite part of the series for me is whenever The Lone Gunmen are involved, and in particular how they unabashedly hit on Scully! The show had a really dark sense of humor to it that made you belly-laugh at the most awkward moments.

I wish this show was still on the air. It really paved the way for shows like Fringe and all the CSI incarnations. But they all stink compared to Mulder & Scully

I love Cancer Man...

Always in the background and not sure who he's helping...

Definitely! Cancer Man is an excellent and mysterious character. His unknown connections to the Mulders always kept you interested.

Alex Krycek was great too. I had forgotten how he started off as an ally of sorts that you just knew had a dark side to him the moment you laid eyes on him.

I liked the Cockroach episode too, but my all-time favorite was Season 9, Episode 14, called "Improbable." This is the one where Burt Reynolds guest starred as a mysterious stranger with unknown motives, and amazing abilities.

This is one episode where Scully teamed up with Agent Reyes. Instead of jumping the shark without Fox Mulder, some of the best episodes happened after Duchovney left the show.

I never cared for the X-Files when it was on primetime ... but I really ate it up once it went into syndication and re-runs.

Yeah, the Sci-Fi channel did a run a few years ago with just the mythology episodes that was awesome. It was great not having to wait through "Monster of the Week" episodes to know what Cancer Man, Krycek, Well-Manicured Man, and the rest of them were going to do to cover their own butts.

Man I love the X Files, my favorite show ever. I have watched the whole series through three times. I am such a geek! I think season three was probably my favorite season, there is even a little cameo from Dave Grohl. The first movie was awesome, just like a double mythology episode.

I liked the first few seasons before it went south. I also liked the sister show Millennium. It was creepier and darker.

I've been watching it on netflix streaming. on season 4 now.

The one episode that is permanently burned into my brain is "Home". That episode creeped me the hell out when it originally aired.

I loved the X-files but after a few seasons the bottom just fell out of it.

I thought he was called 'The Smoking Man'?

I think Mulder referred to him as cancer man a couple of times in the early seasons.
Yea the first few seasons were the best, but I still enjoyed it right up till season 7. The mythology just went on and on probably too confusing for casual viewers to put up with. The first 3 seasons were brilliant though.

It was rather ground-breaking when it first appeared.
First 3 seasons were plain awesome.
Still ´like it & catch a re-run every now&then

the wife and I are slowly making our way through season 7. it used to be her favorite show in high school but now she doesn't really care. it all started to go downhill after season 6, although season 7 had its moments.

too bad the lone gunmen series never took off. RIP

which episode was dave grohl in?

It's episode 3.17 entitled "Pusher". Just watched that one the other day but didn't catch it. I'll have to go back and check it out now.

The Easter Egg Archive said:
In the episode where Mulder is walking through the plaza and he's going to meet Scully in a room. If you look carefully, you can see Dave Grohl, singer and guitarist from the band, The Foo Fighters. Be quick, because he is only there for about 3 seconds. He is walking with his wife, Jennifer Youngblood-Grohl. He got onto the show because he is friends with Chris Carter.

I thought cancer man was the guy who eat people who were suffering from cancer? Season 3 I think?

I think that was from the Leonard Betts episode season 4, the guy who needed to consume cancer's to keep living.
Don't think he was referred to as cancer man.

I loved this show when I was a kid.

The scariest episode I remember is the one with the cannibal/inbreeders who had some amputee on a sliding board under the bed. Holy crap! That one was terrifying. I think it was banned, afterward.

Back in the day, I remember bars emptying outy Friday nights at 10:30 and filling back up at 12:30 because so many people went home to watch the X-files.
