What's new

The Veg is alive.

...on my face right now as I type this. Long story short, I intended to get up this morning and enjoy a nice leisurely shave. Then the girlfriend woke up and informed me, that we, had things that needed to get done. So after puttering around the condo all day, I finally got my long awaited shower and shave. Now, I'm still really new to this whole DE shaving thing, so I went through my routine and was so excited to try out my brand new bottle of The Veg, that I forgot my alum bloc. I had let a bit of The Veg air out in a small bowl while I shaved, and was a bit concerned because it smelled a little "cat pissy" so to speak. That smell dissipated as I shaved and turned into something intriguing. I splashed a healthy dose on my face and did a double take :blink::scared::a47: yowza did that burn! I certainly wasn't prepared for that, but I let it settle in, and just as I was drying the sink etc. off, my girlfriend comes in to tell me she needs to run out. She opens the door, her eyes get really wide, and her knees buckle as she says "wow, it smells REALLY good in here..."

JACKPOT!!! :Veg::clap:

I too, am really enjoying the smell as I sit here and bask in the glory of The Veg. It may not be an everyday scent, but it's definitely different, and I like different.

You sir, have been chosen! Welcome to the club. You may want to buy a glass bottle to decant your VEG in so that you won't need to let it 'air' out in the future.

That is exactly my plan. I would like to get some small glass bottles for my collection of aftershaves and maybe create some personalized labels for them. Any suggestions?

Hot sauce bottles is the way to go. Cholula, Texas Pete, Franks Red Hot, Tabasco.... They are perfect. Here are some I used for my Bay Rum.

See, I love the bottles, but the amount of time it takes to actually empty one of the hotsauce bottles means there's a long wait till I can use them to decant anything.

The sks link you provided has sauce bottles with reducers, unless you just like the wood top of the cholula, in which case you could make a huge batch of chili, use a whole bottle, and invite your friends over for a chili day. I don't find the cholula to be very hot at all. For reference, I go through a 17 oz bottle of Sriracha about every 3 weeks.

It's not hot at all, and I love hot sauces... I just have so many of them (sort of like shaving soaps and creams) it takes way long to empty any one given bottle. lol

You could make some authentic tacos and buy the cholula chili lime, even has a green top. Should be able to knock one of those out in a day.

According to the stores website, it is carried in a few of them near me. I'm on a quest after work to find some of this stuff!

Well..........I just enabled myself LOL. Had to go to the store anyway. I found this in a grocery store chain local to me ( Dillons ). Just for kicks, I went by Target and Wal-mart. Target had every flavor except the chili lime, Wal mart didn't have anything, Maybe others in different areas of the U.S. will.

I tried it on a bean and rice burrito that I made for lunch. It's not hot at all IMO. Has a citrus taste and is decent for a store bought hot sauce.

Now........trying to figure out how to label it, once the VEG is in it?

You can usually soak off the original label with good hot water soak of the bottle, and carefully apply it to the new one... or if you can find a picture of a veg label and print it onto some label paper or something? Looked like others here have made labels of their own, they probably have better ideas than I do. lol

Great ideas guys...both for the hot sauces and decanting. Now I'm hungry AND want to shave...decisions decisions.

That's my initial plan. The 12 oz. label is real close to fitting.

I'm thinking about trimming the front label right above the blue Pinaud on the bottom and above the barcode on the back label.
