What's new

The Shaving Den =

Well, I'm a few months in now and RAD has set in full swing. With my discovery of this amazing flea market and very low prices, I've been able to acquire a nice collection.

Next on the list is a display case of some kind that I can use over my toilet area. I'm thinking a nice spacesaver, but I want to make sure I get the perfect one. A spacesaver that has nice glass doors and a lot of cabinet space.

What do you think of my current setup? My stand, which I've posted in a another post in this subforum, is now on my toilet seat and used for my current goto razors (still deciding on that). That way, it's out of the way of water splashing from my wetshaving. Yes, near a toilet isn't the most sanitary, but I have limited space and have to make due. But anyways, here is the layout:

Looks great, Gent! I know what you mean about RAD. I have it baaaaad. Just picked up two more today.

Keep the passion high!

trust me my man. I know.

and there's always going to be unchartered territory. that's the best part: mugs, brushes, bowls, scuttles, soaps, creams, single edge, straight edge, honing, restoration, display, reselling (not likely hah), etc.

wet shaving takes a mundane everyday task and transforms it into a full fledged exciting hobby. the hunt for vintage gems (pun intended) is extremely gratifying... especially when your search finally pays off!

Needs milk and a bidet!
I'd say you have a pretty well stacked collection so far. AND a medicine cabinet with a blade slot! :thumbup1:

My obsession is more creams/soaps although next on my list is a Feather Artist Club SS so I can try a straight. Others on the list are the Merkur Futur and 34G which is essentially the C but Gold. Just for fun, I may not even use it.

I am also in the market for a solid starter straightedge razor. I saw and handled a few at tag sales this weekend and they just feel right. They seem like the ideal tool for shaving your head... over the curves and divets.

Wow, all of those razors look very "minty". You either do a great job at shining them up or you're finding some really clean specimens out there in the wild. I, too, am just starting to explore the wild at antique stores, antique malls, flea markets and so forth. I've amassed a 40+ DE razor collection through BST and the bay mostly so far.... but I've already found a couple nice scores out there in the wild without having looked too far or long. I love your razor stand BTW. I use an old pipe rack as well.... the humidor jar in the center makes a great place to store samples and pucks of soap refills. Great Den!!

I'm loving the wire rack you have over the sink. I never thought of using something like that before. My sink is about the same size as yours, so I have very little space. I'm going to have to go shopping now.

hit up walmart! that awesome little stand cost me $5 and some change!! it's near the shower caddies.

I love being able to support my fellow b&b buds

most of my razors were very dirty. I've spent hours cleaning them. 3 cans of scrubbing bubbles and Maas later lol

3 Cans!!! Holy cow. 1 can will clean dozens of razors for me. But I don't toss any of it out. I reuse it. I like to let the bubbles subside until I just have "Scrubbing liquid". I fill up a small plastic cup with the liquid and let the razors soak in it. The length of time depends on the type of razor and the amount of grime. I'll let it soak, hit it with the toothbrush, and if it needs too, it goes back into the bath. Once I'm done, I pour the liquid into a water bottle and save it for the next time.

Looks great. I would tempted to fabricate an extra shelf or two for your medicine cabinet. Enjoy the ride!

never thought to reuse my SB. I got a value pack for 5 at walmart. still have a bottle left. my first one was small mind you.
