What's new

The Real Shaving Company-- Wow!

I really dislike cheap shaving cream and soap, but I decided to spend $2.99 at Rite Aid for a tube of Real Shaving Company shaving cream.

To my shock and surprise, this cream is amazing. Most of you know it is made by the same company that makes most of the 3 T's creams. The scent is just "ok," but that's because i prefer fruit/herb/floral flavored scents to "cologne" type scents.

If the scent was better, it was be the greatest cream in the world. But at $2.99 on sale, or $5.99 regular price, you can't afford not to try it. It's great stuff.

the Menthol version is, in my opinion the best.
The others are too strongly scented with tea-tree oil for my liking.

I saw this on the shelf at Rite-Aid, but did not know which version you guys all seem to like so much -- regular or sensitive? Which is the one that is supposed to be the same as the old formula Body Shop cream?

Thanks!

I have tried both the Moisturizing, and Sensitive versions. I could detect no difference between the two products. Both were equally great. :001_tongu

Anyone see the Menthol is the USA? I haven't seen it. The sensitive does have a fair amount of tea tree oil. Looking forward to trying the new formula when it makes it way to RiteAid, hopefull.

I haven't seen the menthol at Rite Aid. BTW, even at $5.99 it's quite the deal.

I've been using the moisturizing formula, and the scent has really grown on me! For me it's a great balance between woodsy, citrus and floral. It lathers up quick and easy, but I only wish that the lather were a bit more thick/heavy. I would love to get a tube of their aftershave balm. My Rite Aid only carries the moisturizing shave gel, moisturizing shave cream, and sensitive shave cream.

Not for about six months. When I first started Wet Shaving, the local Rite Aid had all 3 varieties of VDH, and all 3 varieties of Real Shaving. Now they only stock VDH Select, and no longer have the Menthol Real Shaving.

I really like the scent of the cream - it's similar to the original DKNY Men. I actually haven't shaved with it yet - too many other things to try.

I just tried the Sensitive version this morning. The scent, which I now learned was tea tree oil, was fairly strong. The shaving cream provide a very nice, slick shave. I'm a fan.

I have been using the Moisturizing cream for the past few months and i love it. Its easily as good as the more expensive creams in every way except for the scent which isnt terrible but its nothing special. Im not sure how many of you guys know but the whole Real Shave Co. line has been redone. Daune reade pharmacy has the new stuff. Im not sure if its a new formula, but the scent is different(better imo) its a fresher citrus scent and the packaging is new. The products are now broken down into different steps, step 1 preshave, step 2 shave, step 3 post shave....etc and the packaging states that the products contain no parabens, sls, sles, or alcohol. They had two different creams moisturizing and menthol. The moisturizing is still a traditional lathering cream but the menthol looks to be a "low lather" brushless according to the packaging. They still sell the scrub, face wash, hot towel mask, and after shave balm as well as an electric pre-shave tonic and ashave oil which I think are new. I picked up a tube of the face scrub and I have mixed feelings about it. It really does seem to soften the beard and i always get a great shave when i use it, but its very watery and a bit difficult to use compared to other scrubs like Nivea and Every Man Jack. Heres a pic of the new packaging. And btw the price seems to be $5.99 for most of the products.

I'm not a fan of the facial scrub, but I find the hot towel treatment amusing. I'm not convinced it makes that much difference to my shave, but it's a pleasant sensation and does warm my skin up nicely.

I forgot to mention, If you stop in a Daune Reade be sure to check out the St James of London Cedarwood/Sage shave cream. Its made by the same people that make the Real Shave Co. creams but its even better and smells wonderful!

The Shoppers Drug Marts in Canada still seem to have all 3 of the shaving creams (Sensitive, Moisturizing and Menthol) as well as the after shave balm.

They usually put them on sale for $3.99 at least once per month.

IMHO this is the best kept secret for bargain shavers ever.

My Rite-Aid sells the tubes for $4.99 regular price. In December, they were running a sale (through 12/26) at $2.99.

My 12-year-old son bought me a tube of Sensitive for my birthday in November. I tried it the next day, and have used it 5 out of 7 days since then! SWMBO bought me a bunch to fill my XMAS stocking with . . .

I like the scent - not too strong - but still "manly".

She also gave me a tube of the AS balm . . . what a difference that has made on my face! Just be sure to wash your hands after using - I dropped my Bostonian the first time I used it . . . thankfully, it landed on the rug - missed the hard sink and my soft toe!

RSC is good stuff and an exceptional value for the price!!
