Anyone know why the price of rose essential oil has gone through the roof in the last couple of years? Is there any chance the prices are going to come back down, or has some event caused the price to permanently go above the stratosphere? This stuff is more expensive than gold.

That's a good question, and I don't know the answer. There are so very many varieties of rose but the best stuff seems to come from either Bulgaria or Turkey (with a slight edge to Bulgaria). My guess would be that it's a simple case of supply & demand. Those who want the very best quality rose eo know that there's only a couple of places on the planet where it can be had. And who knows what the supply is like? Growing conditions vary from year to year, demand varies from year to year, fuel & transportation charges, etc. etc. And there are a good number of perfume companies out there who pride themselves on using only the best raw ingredients. Given all that, I think it's somewhat far-fetched to think the price of rose eo will be dropping anytime in the near future.
