What's new

Oodles of Oud, Asian, M.E. frags and eo`s

A few tiny little bottles landed and they don`t have to be big or particularly expensive for you to get REALLY noticed.
Most of these attars and essential oils are big bass notes and can potentiate with layered florals, herbs and spice oils.
Just trying them today with the Dragon; my house smells like Harrods or Bloomingdales - they are all old classics; never gone out of fashion for hundreds of years - You`ll know why when you dab them on.
A couple of the essential oils are yet to arrive but the little blended frags are just SO DIFFERENT TO EVERYTHING ELSE !

I can layer all these attars and oils but most can be worn unaccompanied.

Got some little 1ml samples too, no idea what they are; but they`re all heavenly and divine without being "in your face" , shouty and ostentatious.

Do you have any favorites from these here.

The orange & tobacco sounds interesting.

I’m venturing into the oud colognes right now. Nothing expensive. Just trying to find out what I like and go from there.

I did purchase some oud that Cambodi oud oil. Liked it enough to make a 2nd purchase of it.

Hiya ksblazer are you Stateside because I think it would cost more for shipping than the oils ; if you're UK it's free or peanuts.

The Orange and Tobacco is about £5 or $6 and is a lovely thick, balanced blend with a scent that lasts all day.

I like all my oils and can't really recommended you one because frags are highly personal and really it's best to try first like clothes and shoe fitting and taking a car for a test-drive or trying a Hi-Fi or speakers at home first before fully committing.

What frags do you like and what scents repel you? I may be able to narrow it down and get you reading some reviews first and sorting the wheat from the chaff as it were.

Is there no Asian markets or Middle Eastern stores/barbers near you ? Most speak English but you can get better deals usually if you can converse in their own language; do you mind me asking where you're from and I can find somewhere cheaper and local where you can try before you buy or would you rather just buy blind online; a lot of reviews are highly personal and subjective with biases and hidden agendas and pre-conceived ideas, memories of good and bad purchases that colour their judgement - a lot of pro critics are bored and jaded.

There has never been a statue erected to a critic and a lot of teachers do it because they can't pursue the subjects to their maximum potential themselves - teachers should just guide not indoctrinate.

My Aunty was a headmistress with a degree who taught Worldwide but my Mother was cleverer in a different way who was much more gifted (she home-schooled us) with no degrees and 2 children and had a fuller more productive life.

I live in Tacoma Washington USA

There are quite a few Asian markets around here. But not much Middle East markets.

The Middle East markets that I’ve looked at sell more food and clothing.

The Asian markets sell more food, cook and household items.

For cologne scents I like:

Fougere
Vetiver
Woodsy
Aquatic
Amber
Lavender
Tobacco/vanilla
Amber

I have a 5 more oud’s on the way. I hope after that. I’ll have a better idea at what type of oud sent(s) I prefer.

So far my 3 favorite cologne’s are

Oud Tobacco Al Haramain
Dubai Nights Al Haramain
Simply oud Lattafa

I also enjoy that Cambodi oud oil that you mentioned in the past.

I hope this helps to give you some ideas for me.

Also curious as to what would be considered old time classic oud’s that were worn in the Middle East over the years.

To be honest ksblazer I am not going to be much help because scents are so personal.

What I did was buy Oud essential oil and layer it with other fragrances but i have loads of essential oils I can blend with it...That takes time and experience.

It can take me weeks just doing one custom frag for a friend / family and a lot of testing strips.

Personally I would go to a local Mosque and ask there or go to the Tocomo Chamber of Commerce.

You need to know an old Arabian ' Middle eastern Guy who has travelled.
Ask at a Middle East business ksblazer and they will know the foreign online stores in the area and online.

You are best off joining a Fragrance/Perfume forum and I've just done a search based in King County, Washington.

Oud needs to be tried in person really ; there are no shortcuts and you could waste a fortune buying blind going on some called esteemed reviewers opinion and just going around in circles which I wouldn't do for decent clothes or shoes.

Try this link ksblazer - it may narrow it down a little and you can go to local stores to try scents and get free samples - advice etc.

Hopefully you can avoid wasting money getting grotty, horrible scents buying blind online and you can try before you buy instore !

If they're too expensive in the shop - note down the perfume house and scent after smelling ; then go buy online !

Good luck buddy !
