Mine was tonight.
It is roughly 43 degrees outside, and the windows are open. I have about two days worth of growth on my face. I'm gonna light my face up, and give myself a treat.
I'm a bona fide night shaver anyhow, but tonight...tonight was special. Can't really explain why, but it just was. I got out of the shower and felt the cool air from the windows in the adjacent rooms hitting me. I washed my face with MRGLO soap and then added some Proraso Pre-Post. The cooling feeling then went to my face, and I lathered up some L'Occitane Cade. Loaded the Slanthammer with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Green. Three passes which felt like Sonja Henie slicing through a frozen pond. Nary a bump, nary a weeper. The alum block tingled and and my skin puckered. Thayer's Lavender, Osage Rub, and the cross-ventilation in my bedroom brought my face into what I can only describe as total happiness.
Sometimes, I think we might take this wetshaving thing for granted. I know I have in the past. A seemingly limitless array of products you can use to give yourself a quality shave, you can be inundated with it, and you can easily slip back into this thing being just one more thing you do. Tonight, I am out of my rut. The shave was superlative, but more than that, it reminded me exactly why I shave the way I do, and not the other ways that are available.
That's my story. My question is: What's yours?
Let's fill this thread with shaves that really stick out in your mind and made you realize why you do this.
