The (Gentlemen's) Best Little Shave Shop in Connecticut

My wife and I visited Ray's shop (Gentlemen's Best) in the quaint little town of Southington, Connecticut yesterday for the first time. Ray could not have been a more gracious host and the shop is a real mecca for wetshavers. He's got all the stuff you read about online right there in real life -- MWF, Penhaligon's, Simpsons, DR Harris, Tabac, Omega, Caswell-Massey, Ogallala, etc., etc., not to mention his own Signature Line (which I have been using for some time and it is wonderful, BTW), plus plenty of new and vintage DE's and straights.

Here are some pics:

It was well worth the ride to Southington. There are even a couple of good restaurants and a really cool cigar lounge right across the street, so its a great day trip for anyone nearby.

Enjoy!!

What a great day trip!

thanks for thinking to take pics & sharing them with us, Neil.

I'm in B&B envy over your haul..............

What an awesome looking shop! My family still lives in the Springfield, MA area. I think on my next visit, I'll being making a detour to Southington.

It's the best B&M shaving store I've ever been to. I live about 2 hours away and it was totally worth the trip.

thanks for the report.
And, SWEET brush!

Thanks. It was a real pleasure to use it this morning!

I posted pics in SOTD and the Plisson Porn Thread.

Man...your wallet sure took a hit...those are some expensive scores...nice!

True, but worth it. Besides, it was my 50th birthday last week, and "Mr. Green" paid a nice visit.

I'd like to make that trip myself...

Schedules permitting, it would be my pleasure to meet you there next time you are in the Northeast, Paul. Nice Thanksgiving avatar, BTW. Shall we call you Stewie Pilgrim?

I wish I had seen this last week! I just ordered up a bunch of stuff.

I live a less than 30min. away and always like to show the local guys a little love. The next time I need something will be sure to pay him a visit.

Your shop really looks nice Ray, well done:clap: I see you have some great razors on display there. Thanks for taking the pictures Neil, good job!:thumbup1:

+1
Neil you were one of the people on here that clued me into into GB Signature Series from reading some of your earlier posts. :thumbup1:

The Signature Line is incredible and I am so lucky his shop is just a hop, skip and a jump for me. I been using the GB products for some time as well, and I would say GB Signature Series stands up to any other mainstream product. IMHO

Nice pics. Looks like you had a really good day. I hope next time I get to the City I can take a side trip to check out GB.

Saw the pic on Ray's post of the scuttle and brush. Very nice!
