Just paid for these 2 on Ebay, got them both for around $35

(listed as a 1965...doesn't seem right, does it?)

Other stuff I've bought so far

(figured it's a little nicer than a boars hair brush from walmart)

(mmmm almond scent!)

and for blades I made myself a mini sample pack

I have aftershaves already, one that my wife particularly enjoys, so I think I'm good to go once all this stuff shows up!!!

This might be the cheaper of my 2 AD inducing hobbies. My other one is photography. But this is just inexpensive enough to where it could really get me in trouble with the boss

Looks nice, but Col Conks gets some knocks for the quality of it's lather.
If you have trouble getting it work right, you might want to try some other soaps/creams for comparison.

For locally available stuff, the CO Bigelow at Bath and Body works is pretty nice. It's made by Porasso. Local soap, I would try Van Der Hagen. It's a decent soap for the price and lends itself well to customization.

I have both of these razors and they have performed excellently for me with a variety of blades. I wish you the same success. As for creams, I like all of the TOBS creams, but especially the avocado. That stuff is amazing. Cella and Edwin Jagger are both very nice as well.

Nice gear, especially the razors. I hope you get to sample some Astra SP and Personna (Red Pack) blades. Give Tabac shaving soap and/or Proraso cream a chance too.

Sounds like you are off to a great start, enjoy them. VDH is a very good soap, and you should be able to find that easily, if you are looking for other soaps.

L'Occitane and Crabtree+Evelyn sell excellent shaving soaps for cheap (stay away from their creams.) Bath+Body Works sell Bigelow cream in a metal tube, excellent product. Rite Aid usually has Real Shaving Co cream that gets good reviews.

you guys aren't helping with the AD

I'll definitely be exploring the soap/cream options after I get my basics down. No use in wasting all kinds of good stuff by doing things the wrong way, then blaming the product.
