The Cheapest Boar Brush Ever!

So I was wandering through my exchange when I notice pucks of VDH in an aisle that had previously only contained Gillette cartridges, razorless shaving cream, and insta-cream! I figured it was a step in the right direction, and I also noticed, right next to the soap, a VDH boar brush, individually packaged!

For $3.49.

No tax.

TLC,

What store did you acquire this from? I typically find VDH in CVS and Walmart but not in the handle shown.

Sounds like he bought it on a military base in the PX or commissary.

I picked up my VDH boar brush from CVS when they had them 50% off. I paid about the same amount. It is definitely worth a shot for $4. So far it is shedding a lot, but if anything it showed me that I like keeping a boar brush in the rotation. In the future I'll probably upgrade to an Omega for the ludicrous $12 price they ask.

vdh green is the standard walmart boar brush. vdh "deluxe" is the same boar knot but with a white handle. vdh company used to be called "surrey". if you call the company and ask them for their un-advertised badger brush they will ship it to you and bill you $20 for it. decent badger brush with wood handle.

I get all my Omegas from Gary at shoeboxshaveshop and the cheapest ones I got at the time were 40033 and 50068. Actually he's got a sale going on right now. They're considerably less!

If you want quick review let me know! Don't want to hijack thread.

Also if you need travel brush, 50014 is pretty good! Just need to try it on creams as I've far too many boar to break-in at this point.

That's what I heard. I haven't looked at reviews section by any chance is it good overall?

I got the deluxe boar in blue and white ( at CVS ). They shed about 10x but they're very exfoliating. It's not bad at all.

I've got a VDH boar - got it for $5 from a seller here (possibly Slice of Life?)

Haven't used it yet (I've got a few of both Vulfix and Kent brushes I also haven't cracked open yet) but I've heard it sheds a fair bit, and having just opened a puck of Safari (from Slice of Life) I don't wanna spend my time picking hairs out of my soap.

It does shed a lot. Mine shed about 10 + hairs every time I used it. I likes the blue handle that mine had so i reknoted it now its a great badger brush

Yes, I was saying the "ludicrous price" comment in jest. Boars are a great value. Shoeboxshaveshop there has a great selection. A little too great, as I wouldn't mind having at least 10 of those designs/colors from a quick glance. I'll probably just stick with the VDH for now.

Just snagged the Deluxe (white handled) for $0.50 in a Bin of Death at my local CVS. The box was a little crushed, but no harm done to the brush at first glance. I love the classic, heavy handle - this thing is prime for a re-knot (I don't do boar).
