What's new

The bearded man has shaved

Until this time yesterday, I had maintained a goatee, and sometimes a full beard, for the past five years. Recently I was hired at a local fire department that allows only mustaches--subsequently I shaved. I had intended to maintain a mustache, until my wife saw it and asked "where is your cut-off denim vest?" Being relatively new to straights, I used my DE and Feather blade with relative success and only one small nick. Not a particularly special shave, I'd call it CCS. Today I noticed I few longer hairs on the area just below my bottom lip near the corners of my mouth; hoping to do better with today's shave. Glad I discovered the world of wetshaving, so a shaving requirement isn't an objection, but a reason to buy more cream and maybe a new razor. Thanks for listening.

Similar story to mine...full beard, goatee, mustache, back to full beard, and now settled comfortably at a goatee. All the while enjoying a wet shave for that part of my face that's exposed. I'll bet your face feels naked now! Enjoy the shaving, and make it fun.

Hey, until 16 months ago I wore a full beard for 40+ years. Now: no hair on face--or head. Welcome, and have a great time!

Sounds like your off to a great start (bet the Mrs. and you were surprised looking at the 'man in the mirror' after you shaved your beard off), and yes...this Forum has the knowledge, ideas, and all around 'know-how' to assist in your Wet-Shaving experience. In a nut-shell...your 'gonna' love it here.
Besides being a DE user and Str8 Razor shaver (and hats

off to you...I'm too nervous to try myself

), this Thread entitled
"The Interactive Guide to Straight Razor Shaving"(http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Inter..._Razor_Shaving) maybe of great interest to you and is very informative (which I'm sure you've already read).

And please don't forget The 7 P's of Shaving...Prepare, Patience, Pressure, Practice, Persistence, Post shave and Passion (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/313490-New-Members!-The-6-P-s-of-Shaving).

Although, you may not be additted yet (I think I'm holding up fairly well...with a few exceptions), because we all suffer (gladly and are doomed perhaps), from this shaving compulsion (and other Acquisition Disorders), because at times..."Resistance is futile".

I've actually been DE shaving for a few years now, using drugstore variety soap. It was very cheap, especially only shaving my neck and half of my face. I've been using better creams and brushes (along my the Feather AC) for about 3 months now. Since I had to go in the new job to do paperwork, I figured that shaving was in order, but maybe not the best time to learn to shave my chin with a razor I'm still learning to finesse. Used the AC yesterday with good results, but had to touch up much of my chin. Lathering my face is easier now that I'm not avoiding any areas. Even though the snow (19 inches of it in Springfield) stayed out of Chicago, my face definitely felt colder.
