I use an Georgetown Pottery G20 scuttle, and before I shower I fill the spout with hot water (we have instant on hot in our home and it is hot). Then I fill the bowl and place my silver tip in. Next I shower. When finished I empty the G20, refill and then lather up my brush. I wait for a minute or two while applying my own pre-shave oil (Thayer's witch hazel, jojoba oil, tea oil, neem oil, and lavender). This allows the lather to get warm and it is really warm. I usually do two passes with seldom a nick. When finished I rinse my blade (use several razors, Merkur, Jagger, but prefer my RazoRock Black Hammer). I put the rinsed blade (Lord Blades) in a small bowl filled with olive oil. After a cool pat down. I use my alum block and the apply my shave oil ( it is 85% witch hazel). It is worth all the effort for a close smooth shave...
Round 2 with the RV 2 band. Still used the Sterling Soap Sharp Dressed Man (GIT copy) First, if you haven't tried Rod's soap, do yourself a favor and grab some. They're inexpensive and great performers. Plus Rod is a Texan! The brush is already starting to soften. and I just loaded t brush nicely, added a bit of water, loaded a bit more and BAM! I swear I heard Emeril Agassi... Incredible thick lather. I'm loving that brush. Cant wait to see what it does on Da Fat....
Put the RV on da fat today. Used the same load add water load add water technique. Wow. I'd have taken a pic but it'd have just been showing off...
