So thanks to you fine gentlemen I went out and purchased my first french press, the 8 cup Bodum. I also ground up some 8 o'clock Colombian coffee, and after 4 minutes of steeping it was ready.
I have to say I am extremely surprised. After the first pour I looked in the cup and the only way I could describe it is the coffee looked alive. The first taste was extremely strong to me, so I put some cream and sugar in it, much less then I normally do. After the first pot, I find I don't need the cream and sugar any more and I can drink it straight.
Its so...different...the coffee is slightly chalky, but in a good way. Its almost chocolaty and the bitterness is mild and the flavor gets better as I get closer to the bottom. In short if I can make this super crappy 5 dollar grocery store crap of coffee palatable without cream and sugar, how much better would a fine freshly roasted and ground coffee from a high quality source taste?
Thanks a lot guys, so now that my interests have been peaked I guess I am going to get started on a whole new AD kick. Do you guys ever stop????
