TGN Fan Shaped Finest

Has anyone ever tried out the Golden Nib Fan Shaped Finest knots? I have only used the extra stuffed ones, but was curious about these. Do they have the same properties, just with a different shape? Thanks

I have one in service but not an extra stuffed to compare it to.

I have an extra stuffed on the way as I am interested in this same question.

I like the 20mm finest fan quite a bit, and wish the 18mm was available as a fan. But unfortunately I cannot compare yet.

I set all my knots low. This 20mm fan I set at 45mm...the high end for me.

It is not floppy at all....very nice actually. I an not quite sure where I will set the 20mm extra stuffed, but probably somewhere close to 45mm if I can.

This is the fan...in an EverReady 836A handle.

Its a great knot, I actually use lately the fan shaped more than the extra hair bulb shape in my brushes. Myself, I use a 20 mm set at a 42 mm loft for face lathering soaps, sweet little brush.

Phil,

I have both 20mm & 22mm Finest Badger Fan Shape, both are set between 42 and 45.

I use 98% soap and face lather and I would not consider them floppy at all.

I love them both.

20mm Fan v Bulb both set at 45mm.

The Fuller on the left has about a 24mm knot hole, the Kent a 22 mm. That gives a slightly wider bloom on the Fan but it's still got more than enough backbone no problems.

Both the Finests are great knots.

The finest has quite a lot of backbone to it. I find it a lot closer to best than to silvertip/super. So unless you go way overboard on loft, it shouldn't ever be floppy.
