Tell me which is your favourite Sandalwood Cream

I opened a tube of Trumper's Sandalwood Shave Cream this morning (it was cool and damp here and not summery at all) and although the cream performed really well, I was quite disappointed with the scent. I did follow it up with D.R.Harris Sandalwood AS which has the kind of scent that I am looking for. Do you have a cream (or soap even) that you could recommend?
TIA

Is the EJ stuff the same as the Muehle, as some of the razors are? The Muehle is the only sandalwood cream I've tried (so obviously I can't compare), but it's very nice indeed.

The EJ/Muhle sandalwood cream smells great to me, but not a typical sandalwood scent; more like one of those great 80's colognes that remind me of my childhood.

The Trumper's sandalwood scent may grow on you, so don't give up on it just yet. At first I was appalled by its strong ashy note, but by the end of the tube I couldn't get enough.

I believe that TOBS sandalwood cream has the kind of spiciness that D.R. Harris sandalwood splash has. I use the two, at any rate, and enjoy the combination.

EJ sandalwood scent is awesome, although I find the lather a bit thin compared to other premium creams.

Vintageblades sandalwood cream is not bad, the scent is more muted, more like a pile of fresh wood chips.

I really did not like the scent of Trumper sandalwood at all, it was powdery/diapery and very strange.

I have no idea what real sandalwood smells like, but I will soon. Put in my order for the QED soap yesterday!

Salter Sandalwood. The scent of cinnamon cookies!! It's delicious**!! :tongue_sm:tongue_sm

**I have had random thoughts about actually tasting some Salter Shaving Cream before, the smells are so awesome.:lol:

If you like a strong sandalwood scent then you can't go passed Castle Forbes. It smells like there are woodchips in the tub.

As far as scent I would go with AOS. I think I have some of the CF cedar/sandlewood. I received it in a lot I bought a while back. But it was in an unmarked container and is the same consistency as the CF lime sample I have. And it smells more like cedar to me than anything else. If it is it out performed the AOS. Performance wise CF. Scent wise AOS but not by much. (I enjoy the cedar smell)

I've heard that the QED sandalwood soap is one of the most "real" sandalwoods you can buy, since it uses actual EO and quite a lot of it. Lucky for you, QED has just brought back that soap after having its having been discontinued for over a year. (I just posted about this to the shaving soap subforum earlier)

caveat: I haven't actually tried the QED sandalwood, so I'm just going based on its reputation.

Yet AOS doesn't even smell like real sandalwood either.

Which is a moot point, since anything that had a lot of REAL sandalwood in it would cost $450 a tub and smell like a camphor liniment used to prevent chafing in the package area of working elephants. We will always be talking about interpretations of sandalwood.

So, as much as I dislike AOS as a retail concept, I have to say that their interpretation is pretty good.
