Tea Tree Essential Oil

My SWMBO bought me a bottle of Tea Tree Essential Oil yesterday from ASDA/WAL-MART. It was on a clearance for 10p so she picked up a bottle thinking I could probably use it.

So what can I actually use it for besides the obvious stuff like using on cuts/bruises etc?

Would a few drops added to some Generic WH be beneficial?

I have Prairie Creations Tea Tree, and think it is great.

So maybe mix a bit with a cream or soap to get a nice custom lather?

I have a friend who swears by it for acne or just any little pimple. He dabs it on and it goes away within 24 hrs. I hear its been popular in Australia for a long time. Never tried it myself personally. Might pick some up though just to have on hand if i ever need it.

It can be irritating.

I think that's true of Lavender oil too.

If you use it on your face you might want to use a couple of ounces of EV olive oil as the carrier oil and mix 4 or 5 drops of tea tree oil in with it.

Well I had shave on sunday night and mixed up some TOBS Mr. Taylor with 4 drops of Tea Tree in it. I had a DFS with no irritation but above that my face felt amazingly clean and my skin was taught. So I guess Tea Tree is astringent?

I'll definitely be using it again.

I went back to ASDA / Wal-Mart for some more but it had gone. So I bagged me 10 bottles of Witch Hazel for £1 instead :thumbup1:

Tea Tree Oil is great stuff but can be drying and irritating if used frequently. Use once or twice weekly depending on the solution.

Witch Hazel and Gold Bond are good stuff too.

Cheers!

I haven't gotten around to posting here because I've been so busy with school, but I've found that about around 12-15 drops of tea tree oil in a VDH Deluxe puck works perfectly for my skin. Remember the Deluxe has added shea and aloe, so you may want to start lower if you're using a less gentle soap or if you have sensitive skin. Remember to stir well so you don't have deposits of varying concentration.

I also added it to generic Witch Hazel. I don't really know what ratio I finally settled on for that though :(. But I highly recommend the idea in theory. The stuff works great.

you can apply it to acne as well as insect bites and stings. it's also excellent for contact dermatitis, should that be a problem.

it's a natural fungicide and anti-bacterial agent. i also use several drops mixed with isopropyl alcohol in a travel-sized spray bottle to spritz my razors a couple times a week. cuts down on excess bacteria on the blade while shaving.

It was in the Pharmacy isle. On the shelf with the Indigestion tablets etc.
I think my local store may have just been having a clear out as my SWMBO got me a bottle of TeaTree for 10p a couple of days before. The TeaTree had sold out when I went back later but the WH was on offer. I think it's 50p normally?
