Taxes, anyone use the Turbotax app?

The new version of Turbotax Deluxe software failed to install on my iMac desktop because it requires a computer with ”64 bit" and mine is 32 bit. I've been using Turbotax for years. After a few minutes of uncertainty I searched the store and read some of the many positive reviews, I downloaded the Turbotax app on my iPad for free. I easily transferred my old taxes using iTunes! I was amazed that the app is easier to use than the desktop version (it scanned W-2 using the camera), yet it has all the features. It took me less time to do my taxes using the app. The final cost was the same.

One of the best buys of this year for me. Has anyone else used it?

i get to use the web version through my mutual fund company at no charge - fed + 1 state - and so I didn't have the bit issue - i'm running W7 pro on a laptop - are you saying that the retail version requires 64 bit ? if so that's a dumb move by Intuit , since many people still have 32 bit machines - anyway glad the app worked for you , w-2 scanning sounds pretty cool !!!

I'm not sure how complicated the tax system is in Canada but you might be missing $ome by not using software.

I'm pretty okay at it. Been doing them since I was 13 or so (for my brother in-law back then). I've used the programs and visited H&R Block and such, had my Company's accountant do them (winding down my company as I've returned to a full-time position) and been bang-on every time. Heck, I've sometimes done better than they did.

I used the app really simple but I filed a single so don't know if that matters

I always use Turbotax and I use Quickbooks for my business and it fits the bill but there's a fortune waiting to be made by the plucky startup who wants to take on Intuit's evil empire. They're not unlike P&G/Gillette, that way. It's a one size fits all kind of a thing that works, but can leave you with an irritating rash. What's wanting is a straight razor alternative.
