I tried a sample of Tabac today and was so disappointed that I didn't like it. I found a local shop that stocks the entire Tabac range and I was so excited as I had been dying to try Tabac for so long and I tried their sampler and it was awful.

Just like with the shaving soap; stick with it and get used to it or just turn away. I frequently use the AS in fall and winter but don't like it when temperature is rising.
Im sorry to hear you dint like it, what was it that you dint like about it? I happen to love tabac it really provides excellent cushion slickness and moisture and I ( unlike some) love the smell. However I hate MWF when alot of people love it so to each his own

What exactly did you try, the cologne, the EdT or the aftershave? All 3 smell a little differently.
As they say, YMMV. I happen to love the Tabac after shave splash. To me, it has a timeless, classy, unmistakeably masculine scent. SWMBO approves too! I agree with talibeard, it's best in cooler weather.
I'll add that soap, deodorant, cream, douche gel and shaving soap too vary in fragrance from the above three. Only the balm and the aftershave are pretty much equal, closely followed by the cologne. Deodorant and douche gel are quite close too.
that's the joy of Tabac - you can wear several products at the same time and not project one overwhelming scent at the people around you

The aftershave. After much deliberation I realised what it's scent reminded me of, coal tar soap.
My first impression of the AS splash was not so good. I actually like the scent of the soap, so I tried the splash a few times more, and now I wear it about once every other week. If you use it with your face wet, after shaving, it is much better imho.

Too bad. But, like all else, it's probably not for everyone. YMMV and in this case, it certainly has.
now I often get wistful when I see old adverts for coal tar shaving soap...
In that case you can be thankful that it was only a sample. A quick note in your book of life experiences and you can move on
