Tabac Soap Lather Question

Ive been using Tabac for about 1 week now. Does this soap require more water than normal? It whips up a nice lather but the badger brush hairs seem to get all stuck together when I use it. I use about the same amount of water in my brush as Proraso and my other soaps and creams and dont have this issue.

What am I doing wrong?

yeah, sounds like you need more water.

Just keep adding a little bit at a time till you get it right :)

Just remember every soap is different. Tabac for me requires the most amount of water of all my soaps.

Yep, my experience is that this is the thickest densest lathering soap on the planet. I use more water with this soap than any other. It is wonderful with my Rooney 3/1 brush that is so dense a head it can store more water in its interior than a camel's hump!

I disagree. Of the +/- 50 products I tried to date, I found La Toya, Cella and P.160 make denser lathers. But in my case dense isn't always good: with increasing density the effort in shaving becomes greater too---usually higher density also means higher viscosity and better cushion. The first leads to irritation as more force is needed to pull the blades across the skin, the second prevents a close shave.

@OP: In my experience, Tabac is average when it comes to water requirements, but it would depend on what you consider to be a good lather. However, I've learned that adding a fixed amount of water to every product is asking for trouble. Some products take lots of water, others just a little, to reach the composition I find ideal for shaving my beard. Don't be afraid to play with the amount of water. This is not, by the way, one drop more or less .

I vote for more water. Try not shaking the water out of your brush before taking a turn on the puck. It has worked quite well for me.

If water adjustments don't work, try a boar hair brush. I use an Omega Professional Boar Hair brush with my Tabac and am very pleased the the quality of lather.
