Thanks to Xillion and sorry for the long wait on the review. I couldn't find the original PIF thread so I started my own. Xillion was kind enough to send out a few sets of Super Iridium and PolSilver Super Iridium Blades for some lucky members to try out.
I planned to load the blades 4 times each in a 1940s Gillette Superspeed and my preshave routine the same each time with each blade and the results were as follows. I have extremely ingrown hair prone skin, not too sensitive just easily get infected hairs, so take this review with a grain of salt. Each shave is WTG one pass with some touchups every other day to let my facial hair recover.
The first blade up was the Super Iridium, I loaded it with no expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit tuggy at first but overall a nice close shave. By the third shave the blade really was a smooth, nice clean shaver, no weepers. I made it through the 4 shaves and was happy, had a few slight ingrown hair bumps but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall a nice smooth shaver, no really tugging after the first shave and left a nice smooth face. I could see myself buying a few of these blades.
The second blade up was the PolSilver SI, I also loaded it with no expectations but was left wanting a different blade. The first shave was noticeably not smooth, pulling and just not a great shave. I went one more round with the blade and had to trash it, the second shave was worse than the first, over the next few days I began to have the worst ingrown hair episode since I switched from cartridges almost a year ago. I may have gotten a dud blade but the Polsilver SI was definitely not for me.
As with all shaving products YMMV and again thanks to Xillion for letting me try out the blades!
