What's new

I just love these Wilki`s

WILKINSON SWORD AND DERBY RAZOR BLADES.jpg

Over the years I have found these German Wilkinson Swords to be a really balanced blade - plenty sharp enough, smooth and good value with excellent longevity; I regularly get 6-7 shaves out of each one although, naturally the last one is not as good as the first one - but that`s life.

Got some Derby`s because they were on special; just waiting for 200 Suneko`s from ali now.

Both the German Wilkinson Sword, and the Derby Extras, are excellent blades. Quite different blades... I think you very nicely describe the Wilkinsons. They were my first "go to" blade, and I still love them. I can't get seven good shaves out of a Derby, but it's a really excellent "smooth" blade for one or two shaves. For me.

Thanks Jen yep the Wilki`s last a week - easy and totally agree the Derby Extras are middle of the road sharpness and go for 2-3 scrapes max then they tug uncomfortably and have to go offski to the binski - I just got them because they were going for a song - will probably give them away before Christmas.

I have just realised that I have never bought Gillette safety razor blades in my life - just a few blue GII disposables in my twenties that were garbage.

After that I just used 19th Century German carbon straights - don`t ask me what makes they were ; I wasn`t interested in the slightest - a razor was just a daily tool to me then.

The Derby Extra are excellent blades ... great for "one and done"

Yep I totally agree about the Derby`s Jen - a bit meh for me - I shouldn`t have bought them.

I`m looking for English pre WWII Wilkinson Sword new old stock blades in bulk then I will never buy another razor or blade ever again.

I have already stopped hoarding kitchen knives and scissors - enough is enough.
