What's new

Sunburn Blues.

So, I got a rare Sunday off, and spent the day out at the lake on the boat. It went well..got to do some fishing, had a few cold brews...no complaints.....Until....I got in the car and realized my arms had taken a beating. The sunburn isn't terrible...not warm to the touch, no blisters..not painful... but my skin does feel very tight, and I would like to promote healing asap. I came home and applied glycerine right away, once that dried i applied some Trumpers lime skinfood, after that i smeared on some cocoa butter...what do you guys like to use? Other than aloe, i don't have any of that, and I'm not running to the store. Does anyone else try the moisturizer cocktail method? Is there one product that works miracles? Lets hear your remedies!

Well if you're not running to the store I don't know what kind of advice you expect. Look at your moisturizers and see if there are any w/ Aloe vera? I have Thayers witch hazel which has aloe vera, I have aloe vera gel which is excellent, Jason Aloe moisturizer is fantastic, Desert Essence skin cream is aloe vera based... but if you arent going to the store then you're kinda SOL.

Apple cider vinegar? Thats a new one by me. I have heard of an oatmeal soak, but not one in vinegar. Does it soothe?

It does if you have a real burn. Just beware that it is drying, so you'll want to apply some of that aloe when you're done.

I'll second the apple cider vinegar. Use it within hours of the burn though for any real effect. I've had very bad burns before and used it and basically the next morning most of the burn is absent but the skin was still pink. I just pour it in my hand and rub it in full strength. Better hold your breath though the vapors will get you.

I use SPF 50 - winter coat

I havent' been burnt since I was 9. I went swimming with my friend and his parents, no sunscreen, left after a full day burnt to a crisp. Second degree sunburn all over my exposed skin. Doesn't help that I'm a redhead either.

ever since then I stay out of the sun, or wear an SPF so high that it actually reverses my normal skin color
