Due to a recent rule change TSA doesn’t allow safety razors anymore (with or without blade). I saw a thread here recently but I can’t find it.
My plan for next time is either checkin my bags or ship a small USPS priority box ahead to my hotel with my DE razor+blades, soap+as set, etc and return label that I can drop off at a post office or those blue mailboxes.
My travel kit has been this for a while now.
Weishi TTO (Van Der Hagen, Micro Touch, etc.)
Vokshod blades
Arko shave stick
Kent stiff synthetic brush
Arko shave balm
For me, the razor and blade feels like I forgot to put the blade in the razor, but I get near BBS shaves.
I picked this setup because it's cheap and if lost or left behind I won't be too upset.
I bought a Sterling Tech for the next time I check luggage… it is a $7 dollar razor that is not known for shaving as well as a real Tech.
But I think that will not really happen. I think I will watch garage/estate sales, antique stores/malls, and flea markets for more Techs… and just bring a real Tech and my favorite blades (Perma-Sharps).
Three of my five real Techs were $5 or less.
For checked luggage, I would just bring cartridge razors.
