Suavecito Extra Firme Vs Axe Clean Cut

Hey all. I'm considering purchasing Suavecito Extra Firme, but due to the shipping costs to Canada I'd rather buy a good amount of it than a small amount of it, despite not having tried it. The reviews for it are fairly positive, but I was wondering if anyone could compare it to Axe Clean Cut pomade, which is the product I regularly use. I'm mostly looking for comparisons based on hold, hardness, shine, and general performance.

I just got Suavecito firm hold myslef, and I have to say I like it much more than the Axe pomade. The Suavecito has all day hold on my thick wavy hair, and keeps it held straight (fights the waves). The axe pomade in comparison for me had hold for six hours or so, and had a different texture on the hair, sort of tacky/greasy, the hold would still keep after six hours, but the wavy hair would be there, and it would start falling apart. The Suavecito doesn't have as much shine IMO, but it wasn't dull, more like a natural sheen. The Suavecito is much harder compared to the axe so depending on what you're after that may or may not be good. Hope that helps.

That definitely helps. I'm looking for something stronger, and prefer something that doesn't have a whole lot of shine so Suavecito seems to be a win on both fronts. I find that Axe doesn't fall apart throughout the day, but that it doesn't hold my hairstyle to begin with quite as much as I would like it to. Whether that's me asking too much from a pomade or Axe just isn't up to it I'll have to find out.

I've been experimenting with some different water based pomades lately and Suavecito Firm Hold is one of them. I've never used the Axe Clean Cut product, but I can say that Suavecito provides a very long hold compared to many others I've tried including Imperial Barber Classic Pomade and Layrite Super Hold. I find that all of the really strong holding water based pomades dry hard and don't have much shine. They end up more like a gel with super holding power and the ability to restyle by re-wetting the hair..... without any flaking. Obviously, you can't be re-styling throughout the day with these too much because the more water you add to re-style your hair, the less holding power it will have. It's just the nature of the water based pomades. I like them better than gels and they don't weigh down my hair (they provide more lift) than the greasy pomades. I like the greasy pomades for shine and the re-styling capability without needing to add water and lose hold...... so I usually end up using a combination of both in the end.

Suavecito has the best scent of any I've tried if that makes any difference to you..... for what it's worth.

Suavecito holds very well throughout the day and I would say wins on fronts of hold and semi-matte appearance. In regards to hardness it's somewhere just past "crispy" but doesn't go into the real of helmet hair unless you style it to do so. One other thing that I really like about it, is the fact that you can re-comb throughout the day if you need to (rarely due the good hold) or want to (just to change it up). Just wet the comb and style.

Cheers,
