Stainless steel DE razor

Recently, I came across a safety razor offered in a catalog which I got in the mail. Here is the offering on the company's web site:

As you can see, it is advertised as a stainless steel vintage-style razor for $19.99 (blades sold separately at 5 blades for $8.99). No information is given about manufacturer, etc.

Has anyone used this razor? Can you tell us anything about it?

It might be a decent razor for $20, but the description is probably wrong. My guess is brass with chrome plating.

I'm skeptical that it is stainless steel construction as well. Looks like a Gillette TTO copy.... probably difficult to do from stainless steel and even more difficult to do from stainless steel AND sell at that price. Probably a wrong description.

If you look at the door edges at the ends of the center bar, that should be enough to tell you what you need to know.
For twenty bucks you can get the real deal.

I don't know about the razor, but those are some very expensive blades. $8.99 is how much I paid for 100 Astra SPs.

From the looks of that picture that sure looks like chrome over whatever metal...
Wrong description happens all the time, just look at ebay for gold dollar 66 straight razor, half of them is described as stainless steel. Ok sure it is stainless as there are no stains on it but not what we think of when we say stainless steel.....

+1 Yeah, must be diamond blades.

I don't know about the razor, but those are some very expensive blades. $8.99 is how much I paid for 100 Astra SPs.
