St. John's Bay Rum

They make a nice product and I have the Bay Rum and Island Spice. Just so many competing choices so I use it infrequently but enjoy it when I do.

Their BR & Grapefruit is excellent, and has me seriously tempted to buy a bottle.
I've only tried their BR range, not their other colognes.

Aside from their online store and Barclay Crocker, does anyone know of any US stockists?
Ideally in NYC, Philly, NOLA, Austin or Portland.

I like it a lot. Some people think it's too expensive, and others think it's too clove-y, but I like the spicy, vanilla scent. The balm is really good. It really doesn't have any longevity, at least on me, but it has its fans on this site.

The only other thing I've tried from them was Island Spice. This was a nice fragrance. Indian Gold smelled like Raid bug spray to me and it went into the trash. You can order direct, and you get excellent service.

You can also order from Colonial Drug in Cambridge, MA. I was in a couple of weeks ago and I remember seeing Bay Rum, Island Spice and Lime. Colonial Drug is an interesting place. Call them and they'll mail you what you want. When you get it, you send them a check. They have an unbelievable selection of obscure stuff.

I started using St. John's bay rum in the early 60's when it began showing up in men's clothing stores. It is expensive compared to other brands, but IMHO, it is the most authentic and finest of all BR's. A few years ago, someone on this forum aptly described it as "....rich and creamy." I also like the Captains and I always keep a bottle of Dominica on hand for medicinal purposes, but St Johns with the cool basket weave bottle is the only one that sits on my dressing table. Also recommend their balm. Even if you are not interested in trying their products, their web site has an interesting read on the history of bay rum

Layers very well underneath their Island Spice cologne. Also works well with most earthy vetyvers and TD'H. Em,s Place has a lot of bay rum grooming products for men including a strong, long lasting cologne that contains 20% essential oil.

In my experiences the longevity is not too much of a problem. I can still smell it 3 or 4 hours after its application. I am glad to read that other people do enjoy it as well.
