Hi B&Bers!

This weekโ€™s SOTD Theme is all about Fruits and Vegetables!

Since many of our favourite soaps and aftershaves incorporate fruit and veggie scents and ingredients, letโ€™s see them.

We want to see the soaps, aftershaves and colognes in your den that smell like, look like or are coloured like fruits and vegetables. Is the main note of your cologne citrus? Perfect! Have an orange handled shaving brush? That works too! Is your favourite aftershave The Veg? You need serious help, but weโ€™ll take it!

If you donโ€™t have anything fruit or veggie related, post a pic of your regular or favourite shaving setups. Or post pics of your usual SOTD or just tell us all about it. Letโ€™s see lots of great images again this week!

As always, being creative and having fun IS mandatory but sticking with the theme is NOT mandatory but very strongly encouraged.

Letโ€™s see your fruits and veg themed shaving items!

Pre-shave: cold water splash / YBN Glycerin
Razor: DSC V92 brass, scalloped cap
Blade: Nacet
Brush: Mรผhle Purist Silvertip Badger Ebonite
Bowl: DSC scuttle
Soap: Smoking Monster- Golden Dragon (unscented tallow) / Speick shaving cream / YBN Glycerin
A/S: Two Girls - Florida Water
Aftercare: Aloe Vera Gel
EdP: Byredo - Oud Immortel

A lovely start into a new June week, with an effortless BBS shave featuring the DSC V92 brass razor and a fresh Nacet blade. Two passes WTG with touchups. No irritation, nicks nor weepers.

I was in the mood for an Uberlather and combined the unscented tallow soap with a bit of Speick shaving cream and just a tad of Glycerin for very slick and creamy lather experience. The Mรผhle badger brush did not disappoint and is lathering as good and quick as my Arno synthetic.

Today we have lots of citrus in our setup with Two Girls - Florida Water Aftershave (decanted and diluted with Thayers Unscented With Hazel), which features notes of Lavender, Peppermint, Bergamot, Cinnamon and Clove; Speick shaving cream also has a whiff of Lavender, Menthol and of course Valeriana Celtica. Complementing the fruity-citrus theme is Byredo's Oud Immortel with notes of Limoncello, Incense, Cardamom (top); Oud, Patchouli, Papyrus, Rosewood (middle) and oak moss and tobacco (base).

This shave was a very pleasant start into the week.

SOTD from India
  • Shavette: After sometime I got my hands on my Shavette. I tried to follow exactly what most videos say, keep it parallel to the skin. Somehow that gave me cuts. I keep it less than parallel to the skin, works well for me. I think old adage is true: do what works for you in wetshaving
  • Den of Man 27 mm: Good shaving brush. It lathers the cream pretty quickly and I have to use only half the swirls to spread the lather around the face. I keep on getting some lather on the handle though. That is because I still feel the size is quite big for my hands. No more hair falling from it.
  • Shaving Cream Mix: Today I mixed more of Vasmol and that reduced the cooling effect. Otherwise, great lather
  • Yardley Elegance: This aftershave smells like a mix of Pan-Parag and some other scent. This mix gives me an allergy, I get headaches and profuse sneezing. Got it toned down with Patanjali kesar aloe vera gel.
  • Permasharp Stainless: this blade works amazing for me. Sharp and Smooth with no tugging and no irritation Shavette: After sometime I got my hands on my Shavette. Preshave: Artisanal Werfzeep
Shaving soap: TOBS Royal Forest

Just a little short of a BBS due to some spots in my neck growing in a circle. But the Merkur 34C was as comfortable as always.

Razor : Gem 1912(1921 model) with gold wash coating. Mfg 1912-40's, tame mid to mid range. Millions of 1912 razors where Mfg for world use from mainly USA + later on Great Britain or (UK). This success razor was the best production model for ASR corp IMO. Built to last with reasonable care, had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(5) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock XXX, nice cologne clean masculine scent with excellent lather qualities. Top tier for myself + on 4th tub.
Brush : Yaqi" Ferrari" 24mm bleached boar bristle. Excellent lather generator, soft split end tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Great handle + this knot shed a lot at first(defect sale brush) but it turned out to be a very nice brush to work the face when it stopped shedding. I have not seen Yaqi make bleached boar brushes since this one.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock XXX splash + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 10.2 stellar.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Gem 1912 with a coated Gem blade.

June 2, 2024 Monday shave

Razor: Razorock Game Changer .84P w/Vintage Thin Bar Handle
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
Soap: Razorock New York
Brush: AP Shave Co. 24mm G5A
Bowl: Captain's Choice copper
Post shave: Osma alum block, Thayer's Witch Hazel
Aftershave: Mennen Skin Bracer

This was a three pass shave of 48 hours growth. I could have stopped after 2 passes, but had enough lather for another pass. The GC .84P and Lab Blue produced a great shave. Very close, no drama, smooth and easy. No irritation.

Enjoy your day!
