Switched to the Feather AS-D2 today. The Feather blade in it has its 3rd use. Today I am using the Omega Hi Syn. A substantial difference from the Rudy Vey brush I used yesterday. I had to go back to the puck to add more soap for my head shave. A decent shave. It would have been a 10 if I didn’t have to go back for more soap. Have a good one.

DE SOTD, Sat, Oct 9th 2021- Hard to beat a smooth and Sharp blade like the GSB with a Gillette Fatboy gliding it IMO.

Razor : Gillette E4 Fatboy- Mfg 1959,4th qtr- Excellent adjustable razor, well designed and built to last generations of shaving.
Blade: Gillette silver blue(GSB)(1)- Sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity, top tier blade for myself, 1st shave will tell most folks how excellent a blade it is, Cadillac of Gillette blades IMO.
Soap: Speick, nice mild spicy scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 22mm (AKA, ever-Helpful)2band badger, great lather generator, soft tips, excellent scrubber + good lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush (24mmCashmere) wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera Gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Witch hazel beard area cleaning + Nivea refreshing AS + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer lotion (excellent + scentless balm)
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= :a17:Excellent shave with my Gillette Fatboy with a GS blade.

SOTD SATURDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 9, 2021

On this 9th day of OC October, a rainy Saturday morning, I decided on one of my favorite Japanese razors for the mug shave. My son was most gracious in gifting this DH Nichiri Tokusen 6/8 silver steel razor to me from his collection of well over 100 Japanese razors. I’ve maintained the magnificent edge he put on it with his jnat progression. The mug three pass shave was a pleasure with the Traveling Wilbury’s “Handle with Care” playing in the background. In fact, it was really a two pass shave with some minimal neck buffing and flatblading making up the third half pass to level smooth the recalcitrant, swirling neck stubble on either side of my Adam’s Apple.

My mug shave yesterday was superb and featured the Swiss LeCoultre Rt & Cie 6/8 frameback straight razor. So in keeping with that Swiss theme I grabbed my Leresche 51 safety razor, a simply top flight whisker destroyer, for this morning’s noggin shave. LeResche razor production spanned 76 years from 1894 to 1970. They manufactured straight razors and safety razors. The safety razors included a hoe style SE entitled “LeFrancais”, and many DE razors, the stars of which were their 77 and 51 models. My hefty 51 Luxe model weighs in at 79 grams, comparable to a Gillette Fatboy, and always delivers a very smooth two pass ATG dome shave as it did this morning. I feel velveteen smooth from the shoulders up!

RAZOR: DH Nichiri Tokusen 1000 6/8 (Mug), Leresche 51 Luxe Model.
BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Blue Resin Badger made by my son
SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.

Razor: Gillette - Post War Ball End Tech (1947-1951)
Blade: Personna Super Stainless - Electro-Coated (4)
Brush: Henri et Victoria - High Mountain White Badger 22mm
Pre-Shave: Stirling Pink Clay - Facial Bar Soap
Lather: Henri Et Victoria - Chestnut L’Orange
Aftershave: PAA - Albion of the North

Same blade…different Tech
My last Tech shave was so nice I decided to give this vintage Personna blade another go. This time I swapped the fat handle tech for a ball end Tech. I always seem to grab the fat handle tech so I was a bit surprised when I realized how heavy the ball end Tech is. Other than that, the shave was pretty much an exact duplicate of my last one. Effortless BBS with no sense of blade on skin.
The HeV Chestnut scented soap is excellent but smells pretty much like the pumpkin soap I used last time. I’ve never been able to get a hint of the “l’orange” though.
My PAA splash left my smelling like a stack of pancakes with maple syrup.
