SOTD "FREE WEEK" February 24th - March 1st, 2020

Razor - Above the Tie Windsor SSR1
Blade - Astra SP
Brush - Paladin PK-47 "Lapis Lazuli" 26mm 2-band select badger
Soap - Supply Sierra Ridge
A/S - Supply Arenella Coast

An even better shave than yesterday, at least in the result. Closer shave, zero irritation or redness, my face feels super smooth, refreshed, and just plain great. The only complaint was that inexplicably the Astra SP actually was kind of rough. It could've been a bad blade, as it was the first from a new tuck. It also could've been the lather, which was below my usual standards. I never seem to get a great lather from the Supply soap, I think in large part because the consistency is such that it has a hard time fully dissolving, and often leaves little chunks of soap behind. That was today's case. Still, the brush was a pleasure to face lather with, the scent is SO good, and the shave was out of this world.

SOTD:

I've had some fantastic shaves over the last week, including what has to be my best shave to date, using my favourite soap Arko. The Arko shave stick pictured in the below photos is now a whole year old, absolutely remarkable longevity, especially considering i use it about twice a week every week.

All my shaves this week either featured Arko or bundubeard coffee, which is quickly becoming my go to soap. I can easily see myself sticking with these locally made soaps in future because they're just that fantastic. Ive never used a slicker glycerine based soap , it's on par with the slickness of most tallow soaps i use, and even surpasses the majority of them.

The next week's shaves will heavily feature Credance and bundubeard soaps.

Wednesday shave Feb 26th 2020 (2).jpg

Have some great shaves!

Soap Cavendish
Brush Yaqi 24mm Badger
Razor Just received Gillette New SC
Blade Vintage Made in Malaysia Gillete Super Stainless 1st
Postshave Alum + Thayers Lemon
Cavendish aftershave
Face lather and it was great! Add water slowly and soap bloom into great lather. So aromatic this pipe tobacco...sweet!
Shave with this new razor paired with this blade was really nice...mild feel but deceptively mild it seems. During atg pass multiple weepers occurs perhaps due to unconscious pressure.
Total 3+1pass wtg, xtg & atg and pickup atg. BBS but for the weepers would have been perfect. Rating today only 8/10

Greetings,

Early Morning Shave,

Last use of the Dorco Prime Platinum blade, which has performed wonderfully with each and razor that i've paired it up with throughout the week.

The Wickham irish fern soap, like the 1912 classic 24 soap is a joy to shave with, providing a wonderful slick protective lather, with only a small amount required and a great post shave feel.

The Wickham's soap's i have sampled have the best fragrances that i've had the pleasure of trying, the Irish fern soap really goes together with the old spice classic asl superbly, as does the 1912 classic 24 soap too.

A comfortable 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth bbs shave with no errors to report...All the products in my humble shave set up today worked together superbly making the shave a very pleasurable experience.

Finishing to the shave off with a generous dollop of Boots ~ Unscented Moisturiser Lotion.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Prep: Hot Shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-Shave Cream
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Soap: Cella
Post-Shave: Gentleman Jon Alum Block, Cold Water Rinse
After-Shave: Captain's Choice Cat O'Nine Tails

My second shave with the Envoy was better than the first. Smooth, but assertive blade feel constantly reminded me: No pressure! Cella was fantastic. Cat O' Nine Tails was a slap in the face I really enjoy. I usually prefer a mild razor like the AS-D2, but I'm loving the Envoy!
