I find the bloodwood to be quite hard and fairly heavy. Somewhere in the neighborhood of Purple Heart wood if you've held that before. Not as heavy or dense as any of the blackwoods though. I find the grain texture to be quite like oak - rather pronounced and with lots of texture.
