I call mine an A1 as well, but I can't recall where I got that. Waits and Appleby do not seem to mention it. I've seen photos of a few A variations, including hammered finish in place of the grooves. Here is our latest chart.

Interesting, after reading a bit in this post they are considering the different guard bars as both being an A1. But said that the one connected at both ends is likely the older variant. I would think that would classify them as a version 1 and version 2.
Either way I now have both.

Great shave this morning with the Schick E, a Zenith boar and Cella organic. I finished off the shave with a small splash of Aqua Velva lotion.
