SOC - a pleasant surprise

The people here at B&B continue to amaze me.

First, there's the generous PIFs and advice which are selflessly given out. The good Captain says it better than I ...

Then there's the unexpected surprise which shows up in the mail. I don't recall ever coming across a place like B&B before, nor do I think I ever will again.

I recently had a trade with a fellow member, whom I have engaged in several BST transactions and other exchanges with over in the past. I'll leave him nameless for now. When his box arrived at my door, two normal things happened:
1. SWMBO *harumphed* "another shaving package", and
2. I looked forward to opening it and trying out my new soap.

Little did I know that there was an extra little things included in the box: a SOC!

I'm not normally a boar person (but I am boring! :tongue_sm), but had to give this a go. I've played with it over the past week or two and it seems that maybe my other boars were never fully broken in.... or maybe the SOC really is that much a step up!

Here it is after loading some Gentleman's Refinery, The Standard (thanks syngent!, I'm finally using it and now near done!) and about 30-45 secs of lathering...

Another minute or so with some extra water produced an excellent lather!

Of course, everyone always needs to see the infamous "wild boar" bed-head shot...

An here it is, all nice and dry....
No longer the leader of the wild bunch, this is a nice soft bloom, which while not as uniform as my badgers', does not look out of place alongside them.

I'm thinking that I like this brush!

This unexpected surprise exemplifies the gentlemanly spirit of B&B......

What a nice surprise! I love my SOC. So much so that I am thinking of getting another one in the other handle choice.

a great shave from some great acts of kindness well done PIFer, and you to sam, you are one of the kindest and generous people on here

Very cool of him. SOC's are really nice brushes. Semogue has stylish simplicity down to an art form with their natural finish handles, and the SOC is one of the best. The knot ain't too shabby either.

Great brush, but the knot on mine has bloomed enough to be a bit unwieldy! Believe it or not, my Semogue 1250 is beginning to displace my SOC, even though it doesn't have the cool Lisa Simpson bed-head.

What you say is true...B&B has an impossibly large number of real gentlemen in one place.
