soap as shaving soap

When at home I use Crabtree Sandlewood bowl soap and I just recently switched to a DE shaver.
The question I have is when I shower at work or at the gym I dont want to tote a bowl with me. I keep a travel shave brush in my kit but I use Tone Soap out of my soap dish for my shave. I get good lather and a decent shave.
After logging on to some forums and discovering DE shaving I also discovered Soap Sticks and I have one on order.
I guess basic question is does any one use plain soap or a "body bar" like tone or Dove to shave with?

My father has used ivory soap with a brush for as long as I can remember. Not that I endorse this practice...

I have use plain bath soaps for shaving loads of times, but a real shave soap does offer up a much better experience for the most part.

A shave stick is a nice format for the gym.
