What's new

So I went to CVS today...

And I got a bottle of Pinaud Clubman aftershave. The bottle is sealed when new so I couldn't sniff. I hope I like it.

I also saw Old Spice, the current version, and the CVS brand of OS. The P&G OS is boxed up so I couldnt get a whiff, but I smelled the CVS one and it seemed ok. Anyone have the CVS version that can give a report? How about the current mix of OS? Is it any good?

I'm looking to add some splashes to my collection, right now I only have balms.
As stated above, I just got the Pianud and I am interested in OS or generic, Tabac to match my soap, and Proraso splash.

Ew, I'm not liking the scent of the Pinaud.

Oh well, $7 down the drain, haha.

I'm curious about the Proraso. I hate to risk $15 tho.....

if you don't like the pinuad you probably won't like the proraso. it has a similar "barbershop" talc type sent. oh and you won't like canoe either.

is like scotch or gin.

It's an acquired taste. I'd keep it for at least a little while (more than a day) and use it. I wasn't sure about it at first either, but now I like it fine - especially after a tallow based soap.

give the pinaud another chance. When I cracked the bottle to smell it, I immediately thought the same thing as you; money down the drain. Decided to use it anyway. Hated it when I put it on. Loved it by the end of the day.
Go for the Proraso. The scent is great IMO, but its very mild and washes right off. You can get it a lot cheaper than $15 bucks, especially the rebrands

Dont give up on it so quickly.. Wear it a few times and see if you begin to like it better. That's what happened with me.

As to the CVS OS....if you have a Family Dollar nearby, you can get the OS knockoff much cheaper. I prefer the 'knockoff' to the P&G formula.

Ray is leadin' you true on the Old Spice knockoff :wink2: The type at CVS and Family Dollar are one in the same and are known around these parts as "Ivory Club". A MUCH better aftershave than the current Old Spice.

I bought proraso based on all of the positive reviews here. I love the scent. As a matter of fact I don't recall anyone here saying the don't like it. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

The "New Version" of Old Spice is worth a drain rinsing, if you ask me. I was going through some old things and came across a 1980's bottle of Old Spice. mmmmm. Comparing it side by side to the new version, the new version has a floral-powdery addition that makes it seem a bit more girly. SO says she likes the old version better as well.

I actually really like the new version of OS, but I don't really remember the old version, so there you go.

The new version has a strong vanilla note to me. Which is quite nice. It may be more feminine than the original, but let's not forget the original OS was first marketed as a women's scent.

The first Old Spice product was made for women, but it was different from the Old Spice for men.
