What's new

So I walk in a barbershop today and.

Backstory:
Many of you might remember I lost my job a year ago last summer. Too many B&B members have been generous during the last year. Well, last month, both my wife and I received job offers in my hometown in MS. So we did have to move from NC to MS. We have been here 2 weeks now and everything is getting on track, along with the bills are finally paid,we bought a house, and the dogs have the countryside to run like crazies.

Now to the barbershop. I now work as a reporter for the newspaper and needed a haircut. I found a barbershop in the downtown district. When I introduced myself the barber said he cut my grandfathers hair up until my grandfather passed. So I got to hear some good stories of respect for my grandfather. Hot lather neck shave and then finished off with Osage. I requested the Osage at the end (I saw it on the counter) and he asked how did a younger person know about that stuff, which set us into a shaving discussion (we all know how those work).

Anyway, I wanted to share my story and to update my B&B family that all is good as of lately in the Coppage household.

Cheers,

Very cool story! Awesome that you share your grandfathers barber. Congrats on the job and successful move!

Osage Rub is an underrated product, not commonly available, that is mainly known to the old-timers.

I find it is an excellent aftershave, and it is good for itchy scalp. It does pack a strong feeling. One really doesn't need a cup of coffee to wake up!

Great story. My family's barber passed when I was a teenager, waay before my wetshaving interests. He cut four generations of our family in his day.

Congrats on the new job. We all have to go through times like that and it's nice to hear about someone landing on their feet and having the courage to talk about it.

And you also get to eat at Doe's Eat Place. Are they still in business?

Great story, thanks for sharing.

Congrats on the new jobs and for finding a great barber. Does he do shaves?

He might. But it was never brought up.

I will add that my managing editor just called me up and said I now will be known as "the reporter who sang spirituals at the barbershop with a baptist minister."

Which yes, there was a baptist minister in there and he sang a song once he found out that I played guitar.

When I asked my editor how did he hear about it, he said he would not reveal his sources.

Really a great story with a wonderful ending-2 job offers for you and your wife. I would welcome a great haircut and shave from the barber who did the same to my grandfather. I'm sure the stories are great to hear. Thanks for sharing and good luck with everything!
