So I used a DE razor today

So I used a DE razor today, I was in a hurry and needed a shave. It was an old type gillette with a feather. It gave me a good shave but its nothing like a straight. I could feel the tiny teeth biting in my skin. Where the straight feels super smooth and sharp. Lesson learned, wake up earlier and enjoy.

It's great that we can do both. Sometimes I just enjoy shaving with the DE razor, other times the straight. I makes for a broader range of shaving enjoyment.

Now you know why I don't own anything other than straights! :w00t:

Seriously, I can get a DFS three pass shave with a straight in ten minutes. Would a DE save me much time at all?

No... However, it does allow you to not have 100% focus like a straight requires. That's when I use a DE, when I don't feel like putting the mental effort into it.

Pretty rare:001_tongu

Wow, 3 pass in 10 minutes? That's nice!

I take 30 minutes to do a three pass to BBS shave. Not sure where I'm dawdling:confused:

While I don't have the guts to use a straight (and I salute those who do), I feel exactly the same way when I read of someone in a rush and using shortcuts in prep and a Fusion because they got up late.

Ultimately, we are the ones who set our own alarm clocks, and if it means I get 15 or 20 minutes less sleep, then so be it.

Nope! Not gonna do it! I'm not giving up my sleep!

I GET TO SHAVE AT NIGHT!

No issue as far as I'm concerned about folks who shave at night or in the morning.
My point was only that I'm not sacrificing a good shave for 15 minutes worth of sleep.
If I take 20 minutes at night to shave before bed, or go to bed 20 minutes earlier and get up to shave, all in all it's the same amount of sleep.

While true in a purely mathematical sense , it just seems worse having to wake up earlier instead of staying up later... I can go to bed at 8 or 1am, when that alarm goes off it really sucks either way.

That is a fine point you have made sir.

I'm on vacation this week, and plan on;
1. Seriously sleeping late.
2. Seriously upping my post count.

No, I'm not going anywhere. I'm just going to be lazy and spend 12 hours a day on this Forum.

Bwahahahaha

hey great call mdunn, I have one just ran out of blades. Its a 1912 gem ornate handle silver.

Those are great looking razors.

But wait! There's more! Henry also slices and dices and makes julienne fries!

10 minutes? Seriously?! I'm impressed.
