What is the difference between a silver tip grade A and regular silvertip

Depends on the manufacturer. Some might offer better water retention or softer tips. It really varies as each manufacturer calls their product whatever they want.

Grade A (only one supplier offers this!!!) is softer with about the same backbone as the standard silvertip, which can be a bit on the scritchy side (but: YMMV)
