Sometimes it seems best to just give in lol

Actually getting along with them really well. Finishing the ivory le grelot on one of them tonight. Noticed it had micro chipping so took it down to thick slurry on the coti and made my way up.

Got a new nagura today after a mistake in my order.

Picked up a lovely Best Razorhone High Class iromono. Nice dense clean stone yielding lovely edges. Like honing on frozen custard. Still trying to decide background color. I think it is a lime-green Kiita though.

Really nice! The tomo I was sent with my ozuku looks kinda like that. Also has that leopard like spotting on the sides.

Hmmm it looks like it’s no good. Send it this way I’ll dispose of it lol.

All joking aside I’ve never seen a jnat labeled with English must be rare. Then again I haven’t been into jnats for even a month so I’m not surprised I haven’t seen a lot of things.

Not 100% sure the trade mark is Fujibato, but don't know anything about them. I have seen these stones floating around for years not that many though. I believe they are usually a Nakayama, Narutaki or Shobudani mined stone. My guess is Narutaki on this one, but only a guess.

フジバト= “Fujibato”
正本山 = shōhonzan = True Honzan
仕上砥 = shiagato = finishing stone

From I have I have read on other forums and written by Jnat dealers they said those ones are Narutaki, like you said Tom. Beautiful stone.

Learning for me.
What I have heard from a good seller is that lot of narutaki maruichi grades are sold as nakayamas. The only difference is in the cutting speed.

The problem is that there is Narutaki mine and also Narutaki region. What does the stamp refer to? That's the question. I don't believe that a stone from one mine will a priori cut faster than a stone from another mine. Each mine had it's stratas and produced good stones, mediocre stones and probably crappy stones. There is a fascination with the Nakayama name which I think is potentiated by the fact that Marukas which are sought after are from Nakayama and also the best of the best that Hatanaka sold with his stamps were Nakayama stones as well.

Thank guys. The main thing is it is super fine and yields lovely smooth edges.
Oh and just realized the wet pic showing the iromono got cut off.
