Should I get a Simpson brush ?

My Neighbor keeps telling me to get either a "56" or a Tulip. I tried his and they are some of the nicest brushes I have ever used. Not including His Eagle.

I have 2 brushes I lifted off of him... A Kent, and a CE BBB. I just can't seem to get at those Simpsons, he and his wife keep too close a watch on them :lol:.... I'm going to cave in and buy one.... which one should I get.

I exclusively use soap and most of the time face lather..... or should I be looking at other brushes ???

If you face lather you cant get any better than a Chubby. I have 2 and the Eagle G3 (rumored to be a Chubby 1 knot). The Chubby 2 two band is very nice, soft, dense, lots of back bone. The Super three band size 3 is just utter luxury its the second softest brush I have ever used, the most dense, and has the density of a cemented brick of hair  The Eagle in best is just about as nice as the Super, but a little less soft and maybe (only maybe) a little less dense. If you wanted to go smaller the Duke or Classic are purported to be the face lathering machines of choice. Keep in mind that the Simpson Best is as nice if not nicer than most silvertip IMO, and a great bargain.

Aside from my Shavemac D01's (24mm bulb, 24mm two band flat top) nothing else comes close to my Chubbys for face lathering. The Shavemacs have more backbone even at higher lofts, and are close to the softness of the Simpson Supers. It is close though, and I would look at a Shavemac but if your going for only one new brush, get the Chubby.

Does brianw walk through the neighborhood proselytizing for wet shaving? Is he the new Fuller (Simpson) Brush man?

"Got Shoes?"
OK. Lemme get this straight. You have a neighbor who has quite a few Simpsons and let's you borrow some. Yet, your neighbor and your neighbor's wife won't let you borrow the customized Eagle G3.

Hmmm. I think I understand now. My advice....

 RUN !!!!!

Move out of that neighborhood immediately. Brian will have you stocked with so many Simpson brushes inside two months that you may have to have a shed installed in your backyard for a place to keep them all.

(I wish he was my neighbor. :001_rolle )

I really can't complain.... I haven't had to buy much as I just go raid his supplies...

I got a Fatboy, a couple of Techs, a Slim, a 1912, a micromatic, and a injector from him.... Also a Kent and a CE BBB, I just grab blades out of his closet and soap ....never have had to buy a puck. He did tell me if I get a "56" or a tulip.... I'm on my own for soap....they are real soap destroyers.....

He just comes and raids my liquor cabinet....:tongue_sm:tongue_sm... wouldn't be so bad but he took a bottle of JW Blue

Should you get a Simpson? The answer is YES.

I have three Simpson`s, all in Super Badger. A Emperor 2, a Tulip 3 and a Chubby 3. I also have a Shavemac D01 two band, 26 mm knot/50 mm loft.

The Emperor 2 is great on soaps and face lathering if that is your thing.

The Tulip 3 has the most incredible soft hairs, I mean INCREDIBLE soft. This is the ultimate cream brush, but also does a great job on soaps. As I`m a Scuttle user I have not that much experience with face lathering, but I think your face would love the velvet hairs..

The Chubby 3 has a knot making my Shavemac 26 mm look like a child in the kindergarden. It is so incredibly packed with the finest hairs and if given enough product it makes any soap or cream into the finest lather you would wish to dream of. Every time I use the Chubby 3 I just enjoy living. Perhaps a No. 1 or two would be better for face lathering because the No. 3 is a monster size brush.

The Tulip 3 and Chubby 3 in Super makes my Shavemac D01 feel pricky in comparison. The Emperor 2 is a little bit softer than the D01 two band, and has a lot of backbone for facelathering.

My three Simpson`s are two years or younger, quality is perfect and hair quality is superb imo.

This is great, Lets push him into a couple more brushes and then I may get a chance at some of those in his closet. I know the Milkchurn and the Eagle are out of bounds as his wife would kill for those, but maybe all the others could be in play. :thumbup1::w00t:

Hey look! A Polo! Is that a Major who needs a salute? Whoops! Sorry, Colonel, rank has it's privileges. Give that man a Persian Jar.
