Shirt on or off when shaving?

Shirt on. Encourages me to be a little less messy lathering my face.

Shirt off. I shave down to my collarbone so a shirt would get in the way unless it was a "wife-beater"(just looked up actual name for them: ribbed tank top), which I don't own any of.

What's more important for me, is tie back the hair, and drop a band on the goatee too. They're both at the length where they can get in the way of things.

Shortly after switching from a handle-bar 'stache with a circle beard to a van dyke, I clipped a good portion of my 'stache. I have to very carefully move the 'stache this way and that way while shaving to prevent any future clippings.

It's tough for me.

I hate a wet shirt, but I really hate to see my Farmer's tan staring back at me.

So I take off my shirt and blindfold myself with my neck tie!

True story doggone.

No shirt. Never. I shave right out of the shower usually. But even when I shave without a shower being involved, off goes the shirt.

The only thing I wear when shaving is a towel. That's it. Makes sense since I always shave after getting out of the shower.

Off. I almost always shave when I'm just out of the shower and if I don't have a shirt on I don't have to worry about getting shaving cream on the collar.

Summer? Generally off. In a hurry to get to nothing formal I might turn my collar under. Winter? Or a cool day? I often put on my 'shaving jacket', a light poplin waist length jacket with a very loose shawl collar. Perfect. Beats overheating the house.

Never, ever with a shirt. I either shower or sponge bathe in the sink just before shaving. So, never a shirt.

Shirt off always. The only exception was when using an electric, but that hasn't been since RookieGuy was Sgt. RookieGuy almost 20 years ago. I put my shirt on a table by my bathroom door and the kids know I'm shaving, so don't bother me or else they'll wear much of the lather in the bowl.

I always shave after my morning shower so no shirt.
It absolutely makes no sense wearing a shirt when shaving anyhow .
