What's new

She's giving it a whirl!

SWMBO just asked if I could show her how to build lather with my brush and soap and how to use a DE. So I set her up with a blue tip SS (figured the precursor to the lady Gillette would be a good start) and my Proraso white tub.

She got a pretty nice lather right away. Had her lather right on her leg isntead of a bowl, from what I understand, because they have so much surface area to cover it dries up in a bowl. The blue tip might be a bit mild tho, but while she learns the angles milder is probably better.

Here's hoping she catches some ADs. She hasn't been against my ADs but if she has them too then things are really going to take off.

:D

Woo-hoo!!!
You should plan a nice pampering night in for her where you can shave her legs too. Give her a nice bath, buy a great smelling soap or cream and treat her like a princess
If you imbed positive associations with traditional wet shaving then there's a chance she's more likely to get wrapped up in it. Or you could simply buy a nice thoughtful starter kit for her if the independent route is more her thing.
If you've any questions just ask and get her to have a look at the leg shaving wiki article on here. I'd like you to it but I'm writing this from my phone - sorry.

My GF had been asking the same questions, and I picked her up a Lady Gillette and gave her one of my brushes and a couple of my floral soaps. She really seemed to have liked them. It warms the dark cockles of my heart to see the other half getting into this.

I *usually* bowl lather, and I haven't had too much of an issue with the lather drying up. But then, I also use a scuttle and like a bit wetter lather to begin with.

Congrats on getting her started on DE! And I +1 Barber-Eile's idea on making this gift-worthy with some nice creams, soaps, or starter kits.

My youngest daughter is now almost exclusively using TOBS Avocado, a Blue Lady Gillette, a Crystal or Personna, and whatever brush I let here use.

Congrats, always fun to have more in common and another reason to double up on some supplies! :001_rolle

That's so cool Grump when you can connect with a kidlet like this.

Do you ever get into discussing pros and cons on technique/software/etc.?
